The tourist and hospitality industry has been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. No one understands this more than The Waters Hotel and The Avenue Restaurant in Hot Springs, Arkansas. When the state of Arkansas encouraged social distancing at the end of March, The Waters and The Avenue unfortunately had to make drastic cuts to their staff, and shift their business operations.
The team at The Waters is now involved in #SupportSpaCity, a local relief initiative designed to support small businesses and individuals within the health and hospitality industry impacted by Covid-19. Fans and residents of Hot Springs are encouraged to purchase gift cards to their favorite hotels, restaurants, spas, and shops through the SupportSpaCity website. For every gift card sold through the website, funds are matched by the Hot Springs Area Community Foundation (HSACF) and donated to the Cooperative Christian Ministries and Clinic (CCMC) who award grocery gift cards to local employees that had employment reduced due to the pandemic. All gift card purchases go directly to the small business impacted–it’s a win-win for residents and businesses in Hot Springs.
